Account deletion
Delete your Oolo account and data
Oolo has no account unless you turn on the optional end-to-end encrypted sync. This page explains how to delete that sync account and everything stored with it. Your records on your device are separate: you delete them in the app.
In the app (fastest)
- Open Oolo and go to Settings, then Sync.
- Tap “Delete my synced data” and confirm.
This deletes your sync account, every linked device and every encrypted copy on our server straight away. To also remove the records on your phone, go to Settings, Privacy, “Delete everything”, or uninstall the app.
Without the app
If you no longer have the app or the device, email privacy@oolo.me with the subject “Delete my sync account”. Our server only knows a random account identifier, not your name or email, so we will ask for details that let us find the account, such as the date you turned sync on and when a device last synced. We delete it within 30 days and reply to confirm. If we can’t tell which account is yours, nobody can read it either: it is encrypted with keys only your devices held.
What is deleted and what is kept
- Deleted: the account identifier, the public keys of your devices, and every encrypted batch and file stored for the account. We can’t read any of it; it is encrypted with keys only your devices hold.
- Kept for a limited time: encrypted server backups are locked for 30 days, so deleted ciphertext can remain in backup storage for up to 30 days. Service logs hold no request contents. Details are in the privacy policy.
- Purchases are records of the App Store or Google Play, not ours; deleting your sync account does not cancel or refund them.
